Grade 6 Mentors Meet & Greet 2022
Last February 11, 2022, the 6th Graders under the IB-PYP program were finally introduced to their PYP Exhibition mentors. Mentors are tasked to guide the students, evaluate resources, give feedback on the student’s progress, and help students work through different lines of inquiry. They act as facilitators in the student’s research and learning process.
Before the program proper, the attendees were shown short audiovisual presentations of the PYP Exhibition that took place last year. This year’s Meet and Greet event was hosted by Ms. Justine Gibo, the advisor of Grade 6 – Resilience and the opening prayer was led by one of her students, Naomi Sy. The opening remarks were given by Ms. Jhudelle Navarro. She introduced the event to the mentors and the learners. Then, the students were given some time to ask and clarify questions they might have on the exhibition.
Afterwards, the learners entered the breakout rooms with their mentors, where they introduced themselves to each other and coordinated with each other on appropriate consultation schedules. The students and teachers set their essential agreements, listed their consultation schedules, and developed proper protocols and channels of communication.
